Last month, the UQ Goorie Goannas travelled to The University of Wollongong for the UniSport Indigenous National Games. They triumphed in volleyball, securing the championship for a second consecutive year, and earned 3rd place overall!

Out of the 31 universities competing across 4 days, our deadly Goories ranked 9th in basketball, 8th in netball, 1st in volleyball, and 6th in touch football!

This year’s Goorie team was largely made up of veteran players with over four years of experience at the Indigenous Nationals. For many of the players, this year is their final performance making it a bittersweet end to these exciting games.

The UQ community, particularly those from the UQ ATSIS Unit, UQ Sport, UQ Union, and the Goorie Berrimpa Student Collective, are proud to support this amazing team and their efforts.
